Placenta: The Wonder Drug

**CAUTION** If you are easily grossed out, no need to read further.
I have done something I thought I would NEVER do. I encapsulated my placenta. That’s right, after I birthed my placenta we took it home on ice. Then someone came over to cook it, dehydrate it, and put it into pills. I’m now taking these placenta filled capsules daily.

Sounds disgusting right?! That’s what I initially thought too. I started researching the topic just because I wanted to know who actually did this. The more I learned, the more I realized that it was perfect for me.

My anxiety about having babies 20 months apart was growing by the second. I definitely had the baby blues post Cooper and with my growing responsibilities, I was worried about getting postpartum depression after Owen. I also was concerned with my over all healing. I wouldn’t have the time to sleep when the baby sleeps or take it easy; I have a toddler to run around after for crying out loud. Let’s face the facts, I needed a miracle drug to help me heal fast, stabilize me emotionally, give me energy, and help me sleep. Not only do placenta capsules do all this but they also help with milk production, lessen postnatal bleeding, and increase iron levels. They are glorious wonder pills I tell you!

My recovery with Owen has been such a different experience then with Cooper. I am 10 days out and am no longer sore or bleeding. I have energy and am emotionally stable. I was none of this 10 days out from having Cooper. I don’t have enough positive things to say about encapsulating your placenta. It truly is a miracle pill made by your body for your body.
